Pools don’t have to cost the earth to run. Infact, they often cost considerably less than people believe. But there are ways and means to reduce your carbon footprint whilst being a pool owner. From heating options through to water management and pumps, savings are there to be made.
What We Offer
As with most ‘green’ products, they tend to cost a little more to start with. However savings don’t take long to follow.
Let us start with the pool construction. Insulation is a must as of October 2010 for all indoor pools newly built, and is highly recommended in all pools. The pool shell is insulated to reduce heat loss down and sideways. The Endless Summer Heatwave pool uses a unique system of heat retaining panels to offer huge savings in running costs. It offers different thicknesses of insulating panels to suit varying budgets.
Gas Boilers
Whether you opt for a highly efficient gas boiler, air source or ground source heat pumps, the options are there for you. We supply and install a large variety of gas boilers, including the Certikin Genie Gas Boiler, with it’s 94% efficiency. As a result, running costs are reduced by up to 30%.
Heat Pumps
One of the most efficient ways to heat either and indoor or outdoor pool is with a heat pump. We are suppliers of numerous brands, including Calorex, Waterco, Elecro and many more. Essentially a heat pump is an electrically powered machine which takes heat out of the air and transfers it into the pool water. Highly efficient and cheap to run, the most cost aware of pool owners are all changing to them.

Solar Heating
Solar heating is also a much underused heatsource in the UK. throughout the summer your pool could be heated virtually for free. We are suppliers of Suncell Solar Heating systems, so please call for information.
LED Bulbs
Have a pool light and too afraid to use it because of the cost? Then switch the bulb to an LED bulb and reap the rewards. No more bulbs blowing or high running costs. In most cases it is simply a case of switching the bulbs, and an LED bulb with cascade light through the water more effectively, bring the ‘headlight’ effect to an end. With up to 100,000 hours of use, it is rare that domestic pool owners will ever be changing a pool bulb again.
Solar covers, whether slatted or bubble with help enormously in reducing heat loss from the pool. With different grades to choose from, the choice is there for all budgets. Most omportantly though, is that one has some sort of cover over the pool to reduce heat loss. We carry many solar covers as stock and if we don’t have what you are looking for, we can easily order goods in.
Multicyclone Water Saving
Recently introcduced is the Multicyclone water saving device. It sits in the plant room and filters out larger debris before it reaches the filter. Then, on backwashing, the Multicyclone is rinsed out and the filter backwash run time can be greatly reduced, resulting in much less water loss. Less water lost means less cost of fresh water requiring heating. Call us for further details.
Also available are a variety of 2 speed and variable pumps, which pump faster on backwash and then reduce back to a much lower pump speed for the routine day to day water filtration. These pumps pay for themselves within a few years, with enormous cost savings to be had.
