An Exercise pool is a pool designed to incorporate a Counter Current device such as a Fastlane, Jet Stream, Fluvo or Badu. The swimmer is then able then to control the counter flow to match the speed at which you wish to swim. They are usually quite small and start at about 12 feet x 8 feet and go up to 20 feet x 10 feet.
Swimspa
A Swimspa is an exercise pool with a spa/hot tub at one end of the pool. The spa may be integral to the pool or it may have it’s own seperate filtration and heating source. The key attraction is that you can install such a pool in a building at relatively small cost and enjoy swimming as an exercise every day.
Fastlane
What is Fastlane?
Fastlane is a Counter Current Jet System that can be added to any larger pool or hotel/commercial pool. This system is similar to a treadmill as where a treadmill allows the runner to run for miles without moving their fixed position; the Fastlane systems allows the swimmer to swim for miles without actually moving.
The Fastlane system does this by providing a continuous current flow that gives the same effect that doing lengths in a swimming pool would have. The fastlane is ideal for swimming, aqautic exercise and rehabilitation, and certainly makes doing exercise very fun.
How does the Fastlane work?
The Fastlane unit is suspended on the side of the swimming pool, similar to a ladder in a pool, and like a pool ladder, the Fastlane system can be added to most swimming pools. The Fastlane is made up of two seperate parts: the Fastlane unit suspended on the side of the pool, and a Remote Hydraulic Power Unit that provides the power that is needed for the unit to functions. The two remote parts are connected using two 1/2″ inside diameter hydraulic hoses that have been designed to prevent electricity getting near the swimming pool water.
The Fastlane uni contains a state of the art channeling systems that both straightens and smoothens the current, and a hydraulic motor that powers the motor. The two rails that are suspended over the side of the pools carry the two hydraulic hoses over the pool coping and into the motor of the Fastlane.
The unit which provides the power can be located upto a maximum of 200 feet away from the swimming pool, ideally with the other pool equipment. If you need to place the unit outside, then we also offer a weatherproof hood that will protect it from all of the elements that British weather can throw at you.
On the bottom of Fastlane unit, water enters from every direction through a fine-mesh stainless steel grill. The intake of the Fastlane is 687 square inches in area, therefore eliminating any worries about suction danger.
What part of my pool is suitable for the Fastlane?
The Fastlane swim system can be placed in water as shallow as 35″ and if the pool is deep enough to swim in, then its deep enough for the Fastlane.
We advise that the Fastlane swim unit is at least 12 feet from the opposite wall of the swimming pool, so that there is a 10 foot long lane for you to swim in. Most pools will possess the characteristics that will allow the Fastlane system to be used to its maximum potential.
The Fastlane unit is securely fastened to the side of the pool, and the unit must have 19″ of solid ground from the edge of the water, to the mounting locating. If the surround of your pool is not this big, then it should be easy enough to lay additonal slabs or a concrete pad to secure the mounting bracket.
When can the Fastlane be added to my pool?
The Fastlane counter current system can be installed during the construction of the pool shell, or retro fitted to an existing pool as an over-the-wall version.
